Retain a censored endpoint as a bound rather than zero
When an endpoint is below a detection or reporting limit, the observation is censored. It supplies an inequality rather than an exact count. “Not detected” and “proved absent” are different claims, particularly when recovery and sampling cover only part of a system.
Learning outcome: Write the observation inequality before transforming it. Compare two reporting limits at the same initial count, preserving the direction and strictness of the log bound.
Starting recap
Bound control and susceptibility interpretations by measurement, heterogeneity, source frames and unused evidence; distinguish resistance, tolerance and nonrecovery without operational or clinical claims.
All lessons are open directly. Your saved experiments remain when you leave and return.
Try
With initial 10,000 and endpoint strictly below 2, retained fraction is below 0.0002. For a positive endpoint the reduction is greater than log 10(5000)≈3.69897. The endpoint is not assigned either zero or exactly two.

Why is an exact zero not justified by a value reported below a finite threshold?

Keep a nondetection bound separate from zero survivors
Worked teaching model · synthetic values · Original initial10^a units and endpoint reported strictly below b, not zero. Log10 reduction greater than a−log10(b) if endpoint positive; zero endpoint would make finite log reduction undefined/infinite in ideal arithmetic. No process validation or safety guarantee.
Reset keeps your prediction, captures and practice history.
A censored observation supports a bound, not an exact zero or an exact log reduction.

Endpoint interpretation: Endpoint is below the stated bound; no exact count or proof of zero is supplied.
| Quantity | Value | Unit |
|---|---|---|
| Initial recorded count | 10000 | units |
| Strict endpoint upper bound | 2 | units |
| Strict lower bound on positive-endpoint log reduction | 3.698970 | log10 units |
| Strict upper bound on retained fraction | 0.0002000000 | fraction |
Supplied fictional records only. No control-process operation, chemical preparation, culture, resistance generation or clinical interpretation is requested.

Captures preserve recipes and replay their calculated results. They are synthetic model evidence, not physical measurements.

Public practice checks a specific claim. It does not establish independent mastery.
Use initial 1000 and endpoint strictly below 3. State both bounds.

Completion requires a saved prediction, at least one capture and a reflection. Presence checks do not grade your reasoning.
Skipping retains experiments and awards no mastery.
Save a science backup or import one
Science work is stored locally in this browser, separately from mathematics and AI. It does not sync automatically. Use this science-only backup; this checkout's older all-subject export does not include science.
A legacy file is available only when the complete snapshot fits the 36 MB limit. For larger snapshots, prepare a complete file set below; never discard notebooks to make a smaller file.
Matching imported notebook drafts replace their current drafts. Omitted lessons and known first attempts remain. Export your current work first if you want to retain both drafts.
Complete file sets and course backups
A file set can hold more work than one science file. Keep its manifest and every part together. Each file is limited to 36 MB. This format needs this version of LearnAI or a compatible newer version; older versions can use only the legacy single-file backup above.
The set includes every saved science course and global continuation at this moment. Later edits need a new export. A conflicting tab exports its own visible work, which may differ from saved work in another tab.
0 file(s) selected. File order and filenames do not determine identity. Missing, changed or conflicting parts block the entire restore; no good part is applied by itself.
Science storage: loading. No account or remote computation is required.
