Courses / Money, economics and business / Money and business decisions from explicit models / Make a defensible fictional business decision Build and defend your work Make a defensible fictional business decision Plan a small fictional service or shop. Compare two price/stock choices, prepare a cash reserve, and evaluate a proposed equipment investment. Include a downside demand case and distinguish worker incentives from the business objective.
Choose an audience, investigate alternatives, copy evidence from your experiments, and produce an artifact. You can open this project at any time. Reports, numerical transfer checks and human review are separate outcomes.
Your project workspace Choose the kind of work you want to produce School investigation College investigation Workplace application Plan an invented fundraiser with price, unit cost, unsold inventory and a cash reserve. Explain what happens under low attendance.
1. Collect and compare evidence Required experiment sources:
Include every source above and at least one pair with different inputs from the same experiment. Explain confounding changes yourself; the presence check does not judge your interpretation.
Open an experiment and change an input or capture a trial to make evidence available here.
2. Write and revise your report Objective and assumptions State the decision, time horizon, currency units, demand assumptions and any nonfinancial constraint.
Price, cost and inventory comparison Show two alternatives with revenue, variable/fixed costs, profit and unsold or missed demand. Use comparable scenarios.
Cash and financing Track when funds arrive and leave. Identify minimum cash and, if borrowing is proposed, separate interest and principal.
Discounted project comparison State the discount rate and timing convention; show present benefits, upfront cost and net value.
Downside case and recommendation Explain a scenario that could reverse the choice, any incentive conflict, and what further evidence is needed.
Your artifact: code, analysis, prototype or decision brief This field stores up to 12,000 characters of inert text. Code runs only through the explicit bounded editor in the relevant lessons; project attachments never execute.
Load a text artifact Review your work against the rubric Revenue, profit and cash are not conflated. All costs and timing conventions are explicit, including unsold-stock recovery and financing assumptions. Alternatives use the same demand and cost scenarios before being compared. Discounted value is reconciled with a manually checked case and not presented as guaranteed return. Recommendation includes a downside case and relevant stakeholder or quality constraints. 11 evidence requirements remain Capture evidence from cash flow and reserves. Capture evidence from price and profit. Capture evidence from stock under uncertainty. Capture evidence from discounted project value. Include two different input configurations from the same experiment to compare. Write your objective and assumptions. Write your price, cost and inventory comparison. Write your cash and financing. Write your discounted project comparison. Write your downside case and recommendation. Add your project artifact: code, analysis, prototype or decision brief. Record my report Download report and evidence Editing the report or evidence returns it to draft. Recording verifies field presence and input comparisons, not correctness of your reasoning or code.
3. Check transfer to unfamiliar cases These authored cases use different numbers or conditions from the lesson practice. They are public local checks, not secure certification. Each case permits three submissions. Opening, first responses and attempt counts survive imports; no reset creates fresh evidence.
